I think that most of you are missing one big point. Together Lee & Ramirez are being paid approximately $30 million per year to hit the ball. Especially during the last two games I have watched them stand with the bat in their hands and watch the third strike trown right over the heart of the plate. If they swung and missed that would be one thing, but to just stand there and watch is unacceptable. Lou needs to bench them along with KoFu and let the bench players in the games.

Bob wrote: The last time I looked the Cubs had a 2 game lead and the Sox were leading by a mere 1/2 game. Maybe it wa a misprint. Fun facts Last 38 games: Cubs: 19-19 Sox: 23-15 Best record in baseball since May 14? You got it, Chicago's very own White Sox! That's over the last two months, IN ALL OF BASEBALL. So stop yer yappin'. Now try to tell me the media in this town isn't biased!

With this inane post you officially join the legions of those who know nothing about baseball but have tons of useless advice.

Just as everybody on ESPN is saying the Cubs will win the division, and go to WORLD SERIES and beat Boston by a famous announcer, the Cubs have been asleep for the month of July. Stop reading the PRESS CLIPPINGS, and go about hour job to WIN BALL GAMES ON THE ROAD. ENOUGH OF THIS NONSENSE YOU HAD 8 PLAYERS PICKED FOR THE ALL-STAR GAME. Now show that you are the best team Let's go cubs starting TODAY. Get your ASSES IN GEAR NOW! You had 8 players picked for the All-star game cause of your big fan base college students and gay men etc. They have to stop this pick as many times for a player. The Cubs lost the ALL-STAR game for the N.L.

Remind me again how the Cubs lost that game. Perhaps by not having DeRosa or Fontenot or even Cedeņo at second?

Octogenarian wrote: Broadcasting Cubs' games killed Bert Wilson. He left the Cubs and the vale of tears. "The Cubs were contenders when Wilson first began covering them, but by the mid-50s they were engaged in an annual battle with the Pittsburgh Pirates for last place in the National League. Following the 1955 season, Wilson signed with the Cincinnati Reds to do play-by-play on television. However, coincidentally or otherwise, Wilson died from heart failure in November, prior to the start of the 1956 season." From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Actually he died of terminal frustration. One more year of this and I'll join him. Hang in there Octogenarian. Bert Wilson was such a "homer" that he had cutsie little nicknames for some of the players: "Bingo" Banks, "Deedles" Fondy and "Geeno" Baker among the ones I remember. There also was a character among the vendors (aren't there some still characters selling at Wrigley today?) with a raspy voice Bert Wilson used to call "Gravel Gertie" and make some comment about him being nearby (probably to take everybody's mind off of how crappy the Cubs were playing. Those were also the days when Old Man Wrigley had, not an organist, but a full band playing - Lou Diamond's Band I believe. Better entertainment than Bill Serena, Bob Ramazotti, Roy Smalley & Co. on the field.

So if I were to take the comments on this board as fact, the reality of the Cubs is that Lee is a bum, Ramirez is a lazy bum, Theriot is a no defense playing bum, Zambrano is completely crazy and hurting the team, Fukudome is no better than a minor league bum, Soto is streaky at best, Ryan Dempster is a figment of my imagination, the entire pitching staff is bad, the Cubs lost the all star game for the NL despite pitching 4 innings of no-run, one-hit baseball, and despite all of the above the Cubs still have the best record in the NL.
Don't look now, but a lot of you might be complete morons.

Unacceptable. First off, I am a Cub fan but I went to a Sox game last night with a friend since we scored some free tickets. What I saw was Cub fans wearing Cub gear, not just a hat but jerseys. I think this is totally wrong and I was embarrassed to see that. Am I wrong here ?
