Yes, he should pick better friends and act like he is a the role model so many kids look up to him as but........ when is it going to far when the police are watching his every move? If you notice and read the story it shows the person arrested was cited for a seatbelt violation and Williams was warned for dark window tint. Both of which are stop-able offenses. It is not profiling, it's called he had two clear offenses and the officer made a stop and affected an arrest. Larry Bird, the pacers, and some of the public need to quit making excuses for these people!

Amazing wrote: <quoted text> Look you inbred backwoods gully mutt I did not say a thing about the crooked cops setting him up. I stated my concerns about him being profiled. There is no mention of his plates or license having an issue THIS TIME. "Profiling" is when law enforcement looks for someone of a certain race or creed based on past statistics of crimes committed by those of that particular race or creed. If he were driving in a predominately white neighborhood and was pulled over along with other black men in expensive vehicles for no obvious reasons, one might consider that profiling, but I think the story said he was pulled over on MLK for expired license plates. Not exactly what could be considered "profiling".

What say you clean up the Pacers and hey in my opinion I would even start with management , seeing as to how they ( Bird ) constantly give 2,3,4, chances to ruin the Pacers name ... Remember when they used to be very well thought of ??

There is no doubt that he is being profiled. Indiana is a racist, redneck state and I am not one to use the race card at all because I have never gotten in trouble with the law, but I now realize that this state is extremely racist compared to the other places I have lived. It's all media coverage. That white guy that shot the police officer in the head is rarely heard of in the news but everytime a black pacer player is caught speeding the white media hypes it up and these inbreds take it and run with it. Maybe Bird should just choose all white players to play for the pacers, but then attendance would drop because the team would suck worse than they already do. It's just the way it is

Shawne is going to have to determine whether hanging with his thug friends and "living the lifestyle" is worth losing his paycheck and returning to a life of poverty. Its time for him to either grow up or go find a Section 8 in South Memphis.

However, I've checked your IP address with another person from Dallas who posts "nasties" about Indiana on the other forums I moderate and they are the same, so it doesn't surprise me that you check for anything with Indiana and crime on it to post about. Since you apparently hate Indiana, mind your own business in Texas. You have enough issues in the Lone Star State to be concerned with than to bother with us!

I wonder where they could find more players who look and act like that Dunleavy guy? They could draft that Graves kid from Butler, or maybe do a little research and find some other talented people with good midwestern rural upbringings and values. We get our butts kicked on a regular basis in international play by teams that value the team play concept, and nary a gang banger or wannabe in sight. Draft some foreigners next time.

I am about sick of hearing about pacers are in trouble for this or that. If they would not be an NBA player how much trouble would they really be in. Its just bullshit how much trouble they can get out off for being famous. I quit being a pacers fan a few years ago becuase of trouble they have gotten themselves into. Mr.Bird really needs to make some adjustment to his players

But I live in Indiana, for the moment, so I am just making a comparison. I have lived in many places in my 27 years on earth and those places have their own problems but as a law abiding citizen who happens to be black I will say that most of the problems Indiana endures is because of their inability to associate with people of different backgrounds. Indiana is a republican, good-ole-boy, cowboy diplomacy state and nothing will change that. I don't agree with it but I accept it. Blacks and whites in Indiana lack common knowledge, I don't discriminate. Even though I feel that Indiana is a racist state as a whole I will say that I feel more comfortable around whites because at least they treat me with respect to my face although I know it's a front but "If you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all" and whites do a good job of that. The blacks on the other hand are just haters and don't like to see other blacks doing well. I think this mentality comes from how the white man in Indiana has brainwashed the blacks to hate each other. Is this an excuse for blacks to behave the way they do, definitely not. I don't know what to say about the crime in Indiana this summer. I still think Indiana is the safest place I have lived in recent years in comparison. I can go on about this subject all day. I don't care that the black population in Indiana is a piece of crap I just don't want it to spill over into me getting ahead and continuing to be successful, but it doesn't matter because when I graduate with my Master's Degree next summer I will be out of here of to other problems.

Trucker Wife wrote: Enough is Enough!!! Get rid of this guy, Larry. You want the fans to support you, then be the boss and make some tough decisions. We don't want to watch or hear about your bad-boys players any longer. That's gonna happen, it may take a while since some teams have said that "Larry Bird is asking too much for Shawne Williams" but I'd say he's being pretty fair. Now personally I say trade Jamaal Tinsley, Shawne Williams and Marquise Daneals to the Lakers for Lamar Odem. But since the Lakers have a strong history of ripping other teams off in trades, I highly doubt that will happen.

Mr.Bird really needs to make some adjustment to his players Bird's already made it perfectly clear that as for Shawne Williams "Boy he's on thin ice". So I'd say he's gone. It may take a while, but next season I highly doubt he returns in a Pacers uniform. Either way I knew him and the Stephen Jackson trade were bad ideas from the start.

So, you are at a party or at the store , just anywhere and a white person is nice to you... The whole time you are thinking "this person is a racist hilbilly"? Who is the real racist? Who is a little paranoid? You or the person you don't even know? I really don't think Americans are as racist as you think.

If this guy stays I will never attend another Pacer game. He is a bad apple and if Larry chooses to keep him - I will likewise lose my respect for him. I dont want people like him being the role model for our child. Either he goes or I go as a Pacer fan.

Crook.Crook Crook. Crook. Crook. Thats the starting line up for the pacers. i hate the fact that we have to deal with a team that is full of criminals. the admin for the pacers sucks. i would support a losing team with honest players, before i would support a losing team with criminals. unfortunatly, thats what we have. time to find a new team.

I really don't CARE what that person thinks but I can speculate. But at the end of the day if that person treats me with respect at the least then in my book it doesn't matter because everyone has their own opinion about everything and race is no exception. Just like I posted what I think about Indiana. It doesn't make it a fact in general but in my own little world it is a fact more than half of the time but I am not going to let what I think spill over into my actions.
