O's confront demon

I am just enjoying the orioles playing good ball not trying to analyze or explain it..Their pitching is growing and their holes still plain but they are winning without anyone having a career year hitting.. They definitely need some power but I can be patient until it arrives.. I really look forward to the draft.. If the rays take Posey as possible and KC and PIT take Matusz and Tim Beckham it would leave the orioles 3 very good hitters to choose from SS Gordon Beckham, SH/1B Justin Smoak and/or 3B/1B Pedro Alvarez..No matter we could get another bat as good as Wieters..

Inter league play just sucks to begin with. It's killed the ratings for the AllStar game and World series because it dilluted the rivalry between the 2 leagues.The going back and forth with the pitcher hitting in the NL parks is idiotic as well. AL pitchers aren't used to hitting and running the bases and it could lead to an injury to a valuable asset.

Hopefully the corner has turned a little bit. Although Nats seem to be on a little bit of a roll. They played the Mets well.

Hit rock bottom before they are done rebuilding? I'd say this franchise hit rock bottom 3 oceans ago.

It's hardly a jinx. Interleague play has coincided with the Orioles recent string of losing seasons, so our interleague winning percentage during this span is not that different from our intraleague winning percentage.

So I think that as our team improves overall so will our interleague record.

All the Orioles have to do is be patient when hitting and stay ahead of hitters when pitching and keep the hitters off balance.Take what pitchers give you.(take the walks).Don't get anxious when you have men on base.Don't free swing.Pitch to a location where a hitter will get less power on a swing.Don't worry about the umpire calling strikes.Just pitch.Smart baserunning.Play with lots of heart.Don't be intimidated.Believe!!!

Agree with everything except your comment on hitting. Often, the Orioles are too patient at the plate and allow two called strikes to be made ven before a swing is made. Consequently, the hitter is immediately behind and must react defensively to even prevent from striking out. I was noticing this with Markakis, especially, as pitchers would take advantage of his "patience" by grooving two straight pitches up the middle for strikes, knowing that he would not swing. Consequently, he would end up chasing bad pitches or strike out. There is a differnce between being patient and being smart.

I like the rivalry between the Orioles and Nationals. There are only a couple of markets in the US large enough to have a separate National League and American League team within 35 miles of each other. It's fun.

There have not been any GOOD Oriole teams since 1997. What do you expect there record to be.You don't win games with fill-in and patch-up rosters. All the teams with winning records have been solid organizations. Flanagan and Angelos among others have been serving us TV dinners. Look at star studded 1997 O's and after that nothing. The Orioles will win no more then their talent dictates. The National league teams they have lost to were better.

No coincidence that the "jinx" started in 1997 and directly parallels the decline of the team overall?
