Another nail biter with Gregg loading the bases. Just keep the oxygen nearby as we move towards August and a tough run of games ahead. Gregg has to get warmed up properly and come in and throw first ball strikes. Loading the bases with a four run lead is just not gonna do it when crunch time comes. I sympathize with the rest of the team and coaches to have to go through this night after night. But, a win is a win. Go Marlins!

I read here where it says that the Marlins have run up two consecutive 20,000-plus attendance games against the Phillies. Good heavens, might the fan base be rising from the urschleim in which it normally slumbers in response to stronger currents of destiny and fate?

Nahhhh....it's a fluke.

Anyway, Luis Gonzalez introduced Scott Olsen on the pregame intros as "a guy who can take a jolt" or something like that - a reference to his tiff with a police taser last year. Luis has a sick sense of humor. I like him even in his post-steroid senescent phase.

Nice to win on a nationally televised game. The HR Kings Bandwagon is starting to fill. GO MARLINS!

If Uggla and Hanram stay healthy they should easily set the alltime HR record for any double play duo ever.

Dear Old Gator, I'm glad Baker had a good game I'd been touting him early. He now has as many HR's and 12 fewer RBI's in 19 AB's as Little Matt does in 180!!

Called Tank, Funny Walker and then Rabelo--I think guy they are really getting sick of now is Jake the Jaker. The word is out on all the major newspaper web sites that Jake The Chaser NOW doesn't fetch more than a mid level prospect in a deal. Let's see--No real position, no speed, injury prone, no command of strike zone and a LONG LOOPY swing--Sound good to you??

AND even worse, I would not bet against hearing at the end of season that Willingham has been HURT and playing the whole time--That Will Be Sad!!

AND Dr Birmingham, Alabama examined Mitre in March---NOTHING. Now in August--we get to toss around name of the old White Sox lefty once again.

Is there any doubt that as of RIGHT NOW Cantu is the MVP of this team MAYBE even more irrepaceable than Hanley. He hits in the clutch>

Just call the station with cell number so we can quit meeting like this.

A good crowd in searing heat and humidity, and despite the threat of thunder storms. Who says South Florida isn't into baseball?

Would you prefer gagne for 10 million? guy has 10 blown saves?
These guys are on a shoestring budget. I have news for you.
Remember borowski cost the marlins nothing, cleveland gives him millions, nen blows out his arm, Armando Benetez etc etc. Todd Jones was called a hack and now the tigers unloaded brinks for him.

That's why they build basements in Phila., when that August sun hits, they have some place cool to watch the NL East slip away, it'll happen, hope there's room enough for the Nat's down there

Lou - oy, now vere iss dot cockamamie station numper? Maype you put it up here vun more time, nu?

Gregg gives up the slam first, then the solo while Freddy is trying to tell the bullpen to get Nelson up. That's not the least bit far-fetched. I have only to look at the national map on the Weather Channel and see the conditions in Denver for my duodenum to clinch on me - and this when all I really wanted was another look at Kelly Cass, Jen Carfagno or Nicole Mitchell. Life's not fair.

Fred: yeah, that's funny. The official team of the recession. The Marlins as the Seabiscuit for our error - er, I mean era.

Where is Alfredo? We need his spirit in these day games. I remember Jim Leyland had the B squad come in on a day game and get things going. Bring back the B squad!

>Phew< ...good ole Jorge Cantu does it again, even after Hanley's throwing error had me thinking we'd blown it. Yes, he does deliver in the clutch. Eleven days to go to the trade deadline. Do they pull a trigger somewhere? We shall see....
