His name is Hector. He was Michael Vick's.

Well, I've been in love w/ Wallace the Pitbull ever since I laid eyes on him. I got to meet him and pet him and haven't washed those hands in over a year now!(Oh yeah, I love Roo too......)
Bad Rap are all true American Heroes and deserve all the acclaim they have received, and more, for their part in saving these dogs. The significance of this whole story is colassal. But Bad Rap is not what this story and post are about. The video of Hector brought on streams of tears, it is so poignant -- Hector is so much the ePITome of what we cherish in this breed, and yet his scars are a very solemn reminder of what this breed is forced to endure at the hands of Humans. Seeing Hector in the arms of Roo Yori was like a dream! Roo and Wallace have already singlehandedly annihilated every myth and piece of propaganda against dogs who look like these. That Hector is joining them is absolutely thrilling! I cannot WAIT to see what happens next!! |

I still wonder if Vick see these articles about his dogs in the library at Levenworth and secretly smiles.

You don't know what the hell you're talking about. |
according to Guess who he is studying law on the computer so I'm sure he gets to read all of it including his death threats on some radical black forums for being a govt informant. |

1 Did he really get death threats? I figured there would be people that would be just a tad P.O'd that he was ratting out anyone and everyone to save his own neck, but I thought it would be the other dogfighters not radical racists. |

1 Vick? Studying law? Studying ANYTHING? Seems like they had problems getting him to study the PLAYBOOK! So, who breaks down all those long words, in the law books, for Vick? He's neither bright, nor did he avail himself of his free college education to become educated. BTW-- On his former w/s he said he "hates books." |

1 I could venture a guess that black and white dogfighters alike aren't the kindest, most open minded people around. |

1 I will always be afraid of your pit bull. You can stop telling me what a lovable, friendly around kids, never bit anybody, kind, devoted dog that yours is. I am still afraid of your pit bull, and don't expect that fear to ever go away. Why do are you all so determined that I change and get over my fear of your pit bull? |

It might be because the media has produced those such as you who take TV for fact, and some communities in many areas of this country have decided to ban the pit bull. In some areas, if the ban were to pass, or when it passed, those who have had a loving pet for years that happens to be a pit bull, would either have to turn their dog in to be euthanized or move. Other than that, most pit bull owners couldn't care less what you think of our dogs. |

2 That's your problem, not ours. If you don't like pit bulls, stay away from them. |

1 I agree. No one is telling you you should own one or ever be near one. But don't tell us we can't. |

2 So basically what your saying is, you have a "fear" of pit bulls that you chose not to deal with. As long as you don't expect fear to go away, it never will. I used to think just like you years ago. Your problem isn't getting over "your fear of pit bulls" (or whatever object you project it upon) Your problem is getting over fear and not letting it control or shut off your rational thinking. FEAR IS A GOOD SERVENT BUT A TERRIBLE MASTER. Do you fear driving? You have a much greater chance of injury behind the wheel of a car. Ever been hurt by a human being or know someone who has? Do you fear them? |

1 Great response Lanie. I'd take my chances with a dog long before I'd confront some crazy with a gun. People by far do many more horrific things in this world than any dog could. |

1 AND for every "bad dog" situation there's always some ignorant human who is responsible for it. Now I've taken my share of dog bites over the years but not once could I ever blame the dog. However, I did suffer a nasty bite from a gerbil once,(who gets bit by a freakin gerbil?)Lanie does! I wasn't sure who to blame in that case...lol I guess it was me :) |

1 Jul 31, 2008 - 8:01:34 AM Digg this story! Email this article April, 2007. A drug warrant brought investigator Bill Brinkman to 1915 Moonlight Road. When he arrived on scene, he found few drugs, but there was a crime underway. Staked to chains in the ground and locked in cages in the backyard, 54 snarling pit bull fight dogs were forced to fight, sometimes until death. The greatest surprise of all was who was sponsoring this blood sport-one of the highest paid athletes in the NFL, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick. For the first time, we go inside the investigation that helped bring him down and expose this brutal sport. 1 Great response Lanie! Isn't "fear" usually caused by a lack of understanding? I hang out with horses all the time. At first, I was quite fearful. Lots of folks are because that is a very big animal that can kill you. But, with time and learning, I came to understand the animal and learned how to remain safe. I also learned that even though you get to know a particular horse you still cannot let your guard down because you're still dealing with a horse. Same principle applies to dogs. Once you understand and learn about the animal you're dealing with, you learn not to be fearful. |

1 That reminds me of a funny story. My girlfriend had a huge male pit bull. In my single days, her and I went out quite often and one night I decided to stay at her house instead of driving home. It was the first time I ever saw the dog. Scared to death is putting it mildly. When I woke up in the morning, low and behold there was someone or something in the bed with me, hidden under the covers, there was "Petey". I thought I would die. I yelled for her to come into the room and get him. He woke up and just snuggled up to me and we were best buddies from that time on. I think I fell in love with the breed right then and there. As horrifying as he looked, he was the biggest mush there ever was. |
